The Tempting Lush of LACE Wraps and Refreshments

Summer was not at all felt as most people opted to stay at home due to pandemic. It is our big contribution to help decrease the number of cases that brought the economy of our country and even the world down.  However, dry days until this rainy season did not keep us from searching for foods and fresh drinks that would lift our taste buds high. Excessive indulgence in food is becoming popular and part of the new normal. Lots of people are victims of savoring food over social media posts by various online food sellers… including ME. I could not explain but probably my digestive system can, or maybe the artistic way these products have been presented which caught most of my attention. There is this certain time where I found myself wanting to grab a single bite of Nachos with Fries plus a mouth-watery goodness of fresh and cold Lemonade at some part of my days. Those finger foods I miss to eat while strolling in the mall or even lying down on the sand which made everything complete and fun.

Dreaming… Food and Beach

While several sellers have been competing to get numerous consumers to purchase their tasty dish, I’m starting to wonder how I could not get enough of these delicious edibles and flavorful beverages from a newly hailed food seller in the queen city of the south. LACE Wraps and Refreshments offers a unique taste that most food-lovers crave, thus making them the most sought after snack providers these days. I am pretty sure most people who have tried their product would always end up coming back for more. So let me share with you, how they managed to get the fondness of Cebuanos and keep buyers delighted as they upgrade their dishes like you have never ever tasted before.

LACE Wraps & Refreshments

LACE Wraps and Refreshments is located inside the heart of Cebu City at Greenside Street Hipodromo. It offers a wide array of flavors for quench-lovers such as lemonade, cucumber lemonade, red tea, blue lemonade, green apple, strawberry, lychee, and passion fruit. This is absolutely a one of a kind food shop as they created drinks that are compatible with the food yet different from the usual shawarma food stops. Truly, they have convinced customers that LACE Wraps and Refreshments provides an adequate yet unguarded sweet original drinks.

The Impact of Canva to Teachers

Never have I realized that one particular platform will be useful in my journey as a teacher in this time of pandemic. A few years ago, I was introduced by my close friend about Canva way back 2016 when I started to venture into home-based jobs. In order to keep up with virtual tasks, I needed to learn some applications like Canva which are somehow new to me. Even in my previous blogs, I was also using it so readers will be more enticed to read and view my presentations.

https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/112866290/posts/280

It was not difficult using Canva. Aside from the passion of editing and artistry set within me, I love it because it is absolutely user friendly. Even if I wasn’t using the premium subscription label before, it already offers a wide range of templates that suits the need and wants of the person using. It also allows users to upscale one’s creativity by attaching different elements from stickers, shapes, grids, frames, and a lot more. Photos with good qualities, text designs, and backgrounds are also made available. What makes it more exciting for Filipino subscribers is its texts or font designs which are now being oriented to Filipino cultures, places, food, and events. This would still enhance the Filipino trait of patriotism and loyalty to young learners. Also, while saving files to our personal computers and phones, they would show us quotes that are worthy of perceiving its relevance in our day to day living. Surprsingly, Filipino teachers are now subscribed fully to premium labels which would definitely extend our usage on what Canva has to offer. Isn’t that amazing?!

Recently, because of how things turned upside down… Filipino teachers are now mostly working from homes and given with tasks to explore and reinvent oneself in teaching students this school year through various modes of learning. One of the most suggested venue is online teaching. It could not be denied that the Philippines is listed among third world countries and teaching in most public schools was a bit old-fashioned. I admit, even last school year, I was still using Manila paper to present the content of my lessons. This had been used as our instrument for giving instructions, as we only had one available projector for interactive learning.

With the utmost dedication of the Department of Education to provide continuous growth not just for students or learners this school year, teachers have lately upgraded to foster different learning strategies in these difficult times. Personally, I admire the thought of adapting to various means of teaching. Although I have learned the other platforms the hard way, but it is so satisfying ones successfully mastered. Honestly, one of those platforms that I certainly love, is Canva. It absolutely made me a designer or an artist through my presentations.

This is my very first post in our Student Council page as an administrator
This is my second post in the Student Council page so we can gain our students response for the coming school year

I believe I have updated my skill to a higher degree this time after the webinar last June 15,2020 plus using the premium version is extremely fascinating. With Canva’s support to enable teachers like me to be more creative and innovative, it is not any more difficult to teach 21st-century learners. Being equipped is a responsibility for every individual as this is our sworn obligation to uphold our nation’s goals and create a world of a better future for our next generations.

Thank you Canva Philippines

The gift of stronger humanity

It is past two months since quarantine, yet people are surviving physically and emotionally in different ways. I admire how less privilege ones take a leap of faith every day, so they can have food to eat which is basically the need of humans to outlive. As more and more countries shedding all resources to combat the effect of pandemic, the trend of people seeking ways to help others who are specifically in need are also vastly increasing.

In our country, social media is our nearest partner to update ourselves with the latest events happening in different regions. Through this, we have become more aware and vigilant towards the need to help others, as well as, prepare ourselves with challenging events. Few months back, when COVID-19 hit the world by storm and was announced by World Health Organization of its severity, the government were never alone fighting the so-called pandemic. Health practitioners such as doctors, nurses and other medical staffs are now becoming the present hero for its active dedication in risking their lives and making sure that the public is safe. I admit that their strategy is indeed great, knowing that they lack PPE’s, equipment and facilities to safeguard them and other patient. Although cases are still increasing but the mere fact that death tolls are decreasing, it made me realize that the Department of Health has played its part well. They may have lapses which are inevitable, but their constant effort is a great achievement in this very difficult times.

Private individuals and sectors, business tycoons, young and influential people embraces the need for them to take action and help strengthen the need for the country to survive. They awaken each Filipino souls to help one another and continue spreading charitable acts as a powerful tool to ease the pain felt in this trying times. The commendable act to raise funds such as supplying the need for PPE in various institutions help alleviate the feeling of anxiety of our front liners. On the other hand, government officials has also exerted effort in their various constituent to ensure that they have properly secured their areas for incoming and outgoing visitors who might be a root cause of the dispersal of corona virus. Precautionary measures where placed on public areas and strictly monitored behaviors that may increase the risk. Thermal scanners are already a must in places like grocery stores and malls. Adherence to social and physical distancing were closely observed at almost all places and making sure each individuals out are wearing their quarantine pass.

In line with all the real dramas and struggles experienced by the people, officials laid their financial budget and funds to support people with food. Individuals from various status have received sack of rice ranging from 25 to 50 kilos with additional canned goods, eggs and meat products. Not only government officials gave, but also private sectors like social media stars who paved way by reaching out the poorest of the poor. Aside from goods, monetary allowance where also given to the most affected ones like single moms, Overseas Filipino Workers who were not able to go back to work abroad due to lock down, and families with no stable income. Although it caused chaos to some parts of the country and placed almost all officials to test, but the thought of transparency was mostly shown by many. It is not enough to always hear one side of the story, because when situation arises, surely leaders would never want to compromise the welfare of their people.

Fortunately, people nowadays are becoming more conscious with their actions and feelings. Things lately have been devastating individuals with their insecurities which affected almost all walks of life. With the help of groups and support system organized by counselors and psychologist, mental awareness are now being addressed to uplift depression as lock down prohibits people to express their feelings to their trusted friends and significant others. This support group will be visiting homes and individuals as part of therapy session and to monitor possible suicide attempts at this very depressing times. People are now made aware of being sensitive to the emotions of each family members. Everyone should be one step ahead for each other not just to shield from the harm of COVID-19 but also with depression brought by strict guidelines such as intense changes, quarantine and lock downs.

The world is always absolutely a better place to live in. God has provided us things we need in order to survive and enjoy how these gifts would nurture us. Perhaps, time can’t tell, but for as long as we keep our faith stronger and believe in the love from people who truly cares and values humanity, eventually all uncertainties will slowly go away. We must also continue to appreciate the better things people has made for us and in return, share what we have for others. Indeed, let us keep moving forward, this will be the best gift we could give to our future generation.

Unleashing my inner chef

These quarantine days made me do things I don’t normally do. Ever since I settled down, I know one common skill that isn’t present in me. That is cooking… I am not a typical girl who enjoys hanging around the kitchen, experimenting on different pastries and blending sweets and spices. But this time, things turned differently and I am loving it.

My dad used to warn me before that my future husband would probably return me since I don’t know how to get him into his stomach. That really worried my father greatly. Although he taught me how to fry fish, still my fear of getting flying hot oil into my skin is one thing that forbids me to cook. However, I seemed to realize that I am getting old and I don’t think it would be necessary that my husband will always be in charge of our kitchen and food preparation. I know he needs me to take over in times he doesn’t feel doing it.

Because we have a lot of eggs from our backyard breeding, why not use it for delectable sweets… The very first challenge my husband gave me is to make a Leche Flan… Well, this kind of pudding is made from egg yolk, sugar, a little vanilla with evaporated and condensed milk. Although it was not that perfect, but I believe it was not that bad at all for a first time. Apart from the usual Mango Float dessert which I countlessly make during special occasions because it is incredibly easy and flavorful, this Leche Flan was my very first steam dessert.

I may have overcooked the sugar but the taste underneath the melted sugar is absolutely tasty

My dearest confectioner cousin congratulated me after making the Leche Flan. She told me that she was quite hesitant in making one, as she finds it difficult to follow the steps. On the next day, I finally decided to make my son’s ultimate favorite Peach Mango Pie. Every time we dine in his favorite fast food restaurant, he always orders and eat it after meal. So when I come across it’s recipe online and found it easier, me and my husband surprised him. We just simply make it from our stocked sliced bread, mangoes of course, and instead of bread crumbs we used biscuits.

He enjoyed eating it and delightfully tasted the mango jam inside the fried bread.

While we savored these desserts and snacks, I was also stricken by another simple way of getting through my son’s belly. He is fond of Potato chips that are quite expensive in the sense that it really took a lot of pennies to purchase. Then surprisingly we found a cheaper way to make it with the use of potatoes. Glad to live nearby a market with fresh vegetables and fishes to choose from. Well… this is our finish product. Ingredients were mainly potatoes, eggs to help coat with the crispy fry which obviously gives the taste. Lastly, evaporated milk with a little pepper before adding the crispy fry.

My potato chips right in the corner

Indeed, I can feel a little slight of an achievement from the things I made and felt proud that conquering fears and hesitations are much more important because with it, little by little we slowly progress. It does show in my son’s smile and my husband’s words of appreciation. That is enough for me to keep on unleashing my inner chef.

No hidden beauty

Photos by: Sir Rowell Clenuar Travel 29

I have always been a fan of gorgeous sceneries… Paradise I consider, which I could barely visit and often times I found myself day dreaming like walking around these God-given wonderful places. I’m always in awe every time I see it on pages or even in videos. This whole quarantine makes me even cringe to step into nature’s masterpiece.

Lately, the person behind capturing magnificent photos of Bohol, my homegrown province which I’m very proud of… takes viewers daily through a different perspective of the islands view. Never had I imagined the luxury of looking closely on the vibrancy of the sun as it rises and sets. Travel 29, a page by Sir Rowell Clenuar brings every soul to a unique feeling of admiration towards nature and its beauty behind its reflection.

Once you look vividly, your mood slowly changes and it will begin telling you a story. As for me, it is a story of hope and deep faith that even though things are quite peculiar, there will still be a beautiful tomorrow…

There is no better way to be more positive in life than looking closely at these magnificent photographs. So grab yourself coffee and experience nature at its best!

I certainly hope, each one of us has its own way of dealing boredom at this point of time. Just some piece of advice, always and always free yourself from looking at the wonders of nature.

The beauty behind your ray, shines deep within my soul…

These are just some of the few captivating photos by Sir Rowell Clenuar.

Cost of a young love

Time is very slow for those who wait. Very fast for those who are scared. Very long for those who lament. Very short for those who celebrate. But for those who love, time is eternal. – William Shakespeare

June 2019

Another school year to take, to venture and a new challenge to face. Upon arriving, I greeted the man behind the gate. He used to guard since I came but I haven’t known him for long. Well, it was such a remarkable day for me as this was my first time to begin the school year in June. When I began work a year ago, I already started by August and I was not as observant then. However, something caught my attention… This is the beginning of a story of a girl and a boy who both have the same desire to succeed and surpass their senior years.

Photos from Pexels

They were not lovers nor acquainted to each other, until they were seated next to each other in their new classroom. He was new, while she was consistent with everyone on the campus. She may not be rich, but she is a queen to her friends. Good role model, member of the student council, a reliable student to most of her teachers and also a charming lady. Getting to know with each other was difficult for him but easy for her. It was her mission that she needed to win everybody’s hearts for the class presidency.

Photos from Pexels

I first noticed the feelings upon seeing his eyes delighted over her when she introduced herself. I did not realize then that his admiration would last, as he was just quiet most of the time. She was never conscious about it because he was good at hiding his feelings. His goal was to be first in the class and his admiration for her needed to die. Time passed by and both of them made it to the top, but she was still the best.

September 2019

He could not accept being the class second best, so he joined during the school intramural. He wanted the school administration to see him as an ambassador of sports, but, unfortunately she was chosen as his partner. Days went by and both of them were drained. Balancing extra-curricular activities and schoolwork, yet they emerge, winners, and everyone on the campus are so proud of them. Offers from various modeling and talent agencies were running after them, although clueless, but they were wise enough to choose the most appropriate one. They became partners in crime in school tasks, assignments, engagements and out-of-the-campus activities. As a mentor, I have no words but extreme pride seeing them grow together.

December 2019

Cold weather time, he couldn’t help it anymore but say the things his heart desired before Christmas vacation. He could not see her in the next days and wanted to express his emotions. On the other hand, she feared of missing him, the things they used to do and especially his warm smiles in the mornings that made her days complete. Christmas day came, as she gave her present to him, he then held her hand and whispered gently, ” I hated your presence since the day I met you, but I realized, you were the person who would bring joy inside of me. Someone who’ll inspire me more to be better, not just in my studies but my whole being. You taught me things I didn’t know and tell me how great they are. You are my gift and I would gladly want to be with you for the rest of our lives.” Tears ran down her face as she felt the emotions melting all over her body. No one has ever dared to say this to her, like she had been wanted badly.

There was a battle in their hearts… It’s bleeding every day and they could barely help it.

January 2020

As the gates open for the new year, things got everyone excited for these two. What turns out to be the new campus love team turned out to be wrong. They could barely look at each other. What could have happened? Was that goodbye? He was decent and she was the prim and proper… What could break their hearts? Questions I asked myself and sometimes I asked their classmates but all I got was a shrug on their shoulders. Until I asked her, she only answered me shortly, ” I’d rather leave while I am in love.” And I’m like, was that a joke? That was a line of a song.

February 2020

I was early and it was a miracle for most as I am not an early bird type of person. Since it was still 3 hours before my class, I took my time checking to those people who have lacking requirements. I found him on the list and it was so unlikely for him to be a part of the low performers. I called his attention and had a private talk. He could not figure out what he now wants. Shattered, disappointed and a broken man was all I saw in him. I know it was not my position to discuss matters of a teenage love story, but, he doesn’t deserve to be living in hell because of it. I told him to get up on his knees and let him imagine the time when she was not on his world yet. He cried and told me, ” How can I undo my feelings…?” Sadly, I wasn’t able to give the perfect advice as I am poor in giving love words of wisdom.

Valentine’s day 14th

One rose, just one stalk with a pink flower on her seat. One word, GOODBYE… She cried badly and I sensed the hurt deep down. While she crushed herself in agony, he was in a different mood. He smiled again like there was no more heartache. Listened to the new lesson, participate in class and copied the things written on the board. It was a different him in that brand new day.

March 2020

They were back on the top list, he was able to regain his eagerness and aced his oral defense, while she made a project that was useful for the school. They ended the school year tremendously with flying colors. Because of the quarantine, he had to message me about his grade and I told him about his performance and grades too. I couldn’t get rid of asking him about her, and he told me, ” Goodbye is not the end Mam. It is a beginning for us to face reality, build our dreams and be successful. My feelings will never die. She may not accept me today, but, that does not mean she cannot love me back. She can, but I need to prove it to her and her family… In the right time, Mam.”

Image from https://picsart.com/

Sometimes love is misunderstood. It could make us wary and passive if we don’t feel the love back. What we don’t understand is—love has its perfect timing. It would not take an amount of intelligence to know it, but the determination to win the person in the right way. Young love may bloom and can be a real love in a world built with the right armor.

My travel bug diaries- Bohol Edition

It cannot be denied that most of us are beaming to get off our cozy home for days now and wander through different places we badly dreamed off. As for me, I couldn’t imagine yet… like, I badly need to see it right before my very eyes. But honestly, I’m really dying to head off to the beach and feel it’s wind caresses mine and watch waves playing between tides. Walking around the wilderness too and discover it’s breathtaking secrets. How I wish I could… like I used to do before?

Things have gradually changed, as I browsed over my social media photos where I posted most of my travels in the past years, I felt overwhelmed about how I enjoyed it with the right company. I realized how lucky I was to be a part of a group that shares the same interest. Travellers, beach lovers, food and coffee shop enthusiasts and a lot more… Truly missing those days with my buddies.

Now that I’m a wife and a working mom, most of my travels are spent with my loving husband and ever dearest son. Although most of the time we would prefer to stay at home, do some household chores and spending our free time watching Netflix…we also have the urge to travel in places we longed to. However, change of plans…maybe in the right time when things are free and a bit in order.

In my country Philippines, I’m so proud to share that, since it is composed of group of islands or so-called archipelago… it is an absolutely attractive place gifted with wildlife and beautiful scenery from its various magnificent tourist destinations. These are some of my travels captured and taken few years back.

Let me start on first with my very own province- Bohol Philippines. Blessed with grandiosity, the province itself is a gift to the people making tourism as our number one source of living. From different water forms like beaches, falls, river and land forms too like hills. Wild and extinct creatures which can only be seen in their well taken cared off sanctuary…We are forsooth proud to have all these available in our own land.

Top on my list is Cabilao Island… I have a lot of things to say to this place. It was where my parents lived when they were young and most of my childhood memories lies in this place too. It isn’t hard for anyone to come to this island as most people travel here from the city for like an hour. Although one travels twice, by land and by a pump boat but surely one will enjoy with the views.

Panglao Island- rich in fine sandy beaches with small islets nearby. Panglao is mostly associated to Alona, a landmark where it offers a wide array of restaurants, hotels and bars. People most specially foreigners enjoy it’s nightlife and beach at one.

Anda Bohol- one of the places where hidden attractions are still yet to be rediscovered but it already contains majestic sceneries, clear and glassy waters perfect for getaway.

Dimiao Bohol- a town of Bohol which also surprises visitors with its natural beauty and the rawness which is so worthy to visit. I can remember how we walk for like an hour and excitingly listen to the rushing sound of the flowing water from afar, but once you’ll get there, the long walk is so rewarding.

Next set of photos are widely known tourist spots in Bohol which are mostly visited by foreign guests and even locals.

Sagbayan Peak at Sagbayan,Bohol

Bohol Bee Farm at Panglao, Bohol

There are still more tourist spots that I perhaps missed displaying photos as I might have deleted for some reasons. More destinations in Bohol to unveil it’s flawless beauty, but one things for sure, we all need to take a break and visit our very own favorite sanctuaries.

To our dear frontliners

Gone were the days when I used to work on three different shifts. Like most warriors do, one must be prepared with unexpected events that might occur in an 8-hours shift. Neatly dressed in white silky uniform and all smiles with tender loving care upon patients arrival. Most of us have our most memorable days at work, whether it may be good or lousy disastrous day, one must always composed his or herself to accomplish task and responsibilities ordered for patient care.

When things go rough and heightened, all are demanded to move efficiently in a swift manner. Across-the-board présence of mind to the most minute details are observed, because, every second counts in a room filled with uncertainties.

It is like a battle field with all hopes of winning

I have overcome those days where my adrenaline used to rush in no time. Swinging back and forth to save people fighting for breath and life. I missed it though… I miss those sweet words from my patients happily going out of their rooms ready to go home. Babies cry out of nowhere guessing whether they are hungry, feeling warm or in pain. Feeling like a mom when their mothers can’t go near them and lucky enough when they fell asleep in my arms. It can be so demanding yet it is very rewarding. Patient’s healing and recovering is a joy for a Nurse as these patients are what truly matters in what used to be my day to day routine.

Today, as memories flashes back… I salute to all front liners. My ❤️ goes to you all, hoping all of you are safe. These trying times might be difficult not knowing what tomorrow brings. Deep in our souls we appreciate every inch of your effort from the moment you wake up and prepare yourselves to work until you get home to forcefully exclude yourself from your family members…to make sure they are at least all safe. It is indeed sacrificial, but the oath is engraved in your hearts.

You are truly the bravest souls we have. 💪🏻
